The significance of the red in the flag is the blood that was lost in their fight for national independence and the blue in the top left signifies the beautiful skies of Chile. The white in the top right corner symbolizes the white tops of the Andes Mountains. The bird on the coat of arms is a condor which is the greatest bird of prey in the Andes. The other animal on the left represents a huemul which is a very rare animal in the Chilean area. The crowns on the animals signify the Chilean navy glories in the Pacific Ocean. The feathered crest is an emblem of a distinction of the former presidents of Chile. Last but not least is the white band which has the motto "Por La Razon O La Fuerza" and means "by reason or force".
