Chilean Dam
Chile recently cancelled five hydroelectric dams on two wild Patagonian rivers. The project would've been the biggest energy project in Chilean history and was accepted in 2011. It would have increased the energy produced by twenty percent and Chile needed the power. They needed the power because their Bolivia and Argentina power imports were not doing very well, and Chile has very little fossil fuels. When it was approved in 2011 the International Environmental Community and thousands of people were against it. It would have harmed the ecosystem because the dam would have flooded over 20 square miles of land. There has been an eight year battle over the dams.
